I have worked extensively within the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) community for a number of years, working on both on a short and long term basis. Initially with young homeless people at The Albert Kennedy Trust, across a wide spectrum of issues including, sexuality, HIV/AIDS, anxiety, depression, drug and alcohol issues, as well as family and relationship crisis situations.
I have also worked with male survivors of sexual abuse and rape at Survivors UK. My work at The Metro Centre in Greenwich has encompassed working with a wide cross section of the LGBT community, involving sexual health (HIV/AIDS), addiction (chemsex and alcohol), sexual abuse, gender identity issues, anxiety, depression and bereavement. I also have experience working on a short term modular (CBT style) sexual health program for HIV negative gay men who engage in unprotected sex.
My exposure to patients suffering severe mental health conditions was undertaken at the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM).
